Legislative Update - June 29, 2020

Monday, June 29, 2020

Dear neighbors,

The first special session of 2020 adjourned just over a week ago. I’m grateful we came together to pass legislation that will help small businesses get through the COVID-19 pandemic and advance educational equity. Frustratingly, Senate Republicans did not show interest in meaningful police and criminal justice reforms or investments to help rebuild our communities. There is more work ahead of us to help Minnesotans during these challenging times and beyond.

Tomorrow at 6:30 p.m., Sen. Torres Ray, Rep. Davnie, and I are hosting a virtual town hall to discuss the results of the special session and the work that remains. If you’d like to participate, please visit Rep. Davnie’s Facebook page when the event begins. We look forward to hearing from you!

Request an Absentee Ballot

There’s no safer way to vote than from comfort of your own home. In addition to keeping you and your family safe, absentee balloting minimizes the risk to election officials and other voters. You can request an absentee ballot for the upcoming primary and general election on the Secretary of State’s website here. The online application tool will ask for an email address and an identification number – either a Minnesota-issued driver’s license, Minnesota ID card, or the last four digits of your Social Security number. You can check your voter registration status here and update your status here.

Please contact me if you have any questions or feedback about the results of the special session or the work that remains.

Sincerely,

Jean Wagenius
State Representative
