Nornes: Battle Lake receives state financing package for sanitary sewer project

Thursday, September 19, 2019

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Bud Nornes, R-Fergus Falls, announces the Minnesota Public Facilities Authority recently approved a financing package of more than $2.2 million for Battle Lake to conduct a sanitary sewer project.

The project consists of the rehabilitation of a portion of the sewer collection system and replacement of the main lift station.

The funding is provided through a $494,206 Water Infrastructure Fund grant and a $1.7 million Clean Water State Revolving Fund loan (20 years at 1 percent). The PFA indicates the favorable terms of the loan will save local taxpayers nearly $84,000 compared with market rate financing.

“Congratulations to the people of Battle Lake who put together a successful proposal to obtain financial assistance for this important project,” Nornes said. “The Legislature had projects such as this in mind when it provided PFA funding and it will go to good use in Battle Lake, helping to complete this project and providing some relief for taxpayers in the city.”
