Perham receives state financing package for sanitary sewer project

Wednesday, July 10, 2019

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Bud Nornes, R-Fergus Falls, announces the city of Perham has received state approval on a financing package of nearly $785,000 for a sanitary sewer project.

The project consists of the rehabilitation of the city sanitary sewer at Second Avenue and Third Street, part of a larger city street and utility project. The funding is provided through a 15-year, 1-percent loan for $784,850 via the Minnesota Public Facilities Authority. The PFA estimates favorable terms through a Clean Water Revolving Fund loan will save Perham taxpayers $47,322 compared with market-rate financing.

“It is good to see cooperative efforts between the local and state levels to conduct projects such as this,” Nornes said. “Congratulations to the city of Perham for its successful application and to the taxpayers who will benefit from the favorable terms of this loan. It is very important that we maintain our local infrastructure and it is good to see funding the Legislature provided for this purpose is being put to good use in our area.”
