Dear Neighbors,
The Minnesota Legislature is back in session this week, and it’s hard to notice the cold with how fast things are already moving. Last session’s focus was largely on crafting the state’s budget, and a highlight of this year will be our work on the 2020 “Bonding Bill,” which would fund infrastructure and community projects across the state. For our community, I’ll be advocating for the inclusion of state investment in the Minnesota Humanities Center.
That’s not all we’ll be working on this year, as crucial issues such as insulin affordability and paid family leave remain unsolved from the previous session. Here is a good rundown of legislative issues you’ll be sure to see in the news as the legislature works to find a compromise on these issues that impact Minnesotans.
My colleagues and I in the House DFL will be renewing our efforts to move the ball forward on policy initiatives Minnesotans value, such as world-class education, affordable and accessible health care, and safe and inclusive communities. As chair of the House Jobs and Economic Development Finance Division, I’m especially invested in furthering our work to ensure that every Minnesotan can obtain the economic security they deserve.
