Chief Photographer/Art & Production Coordinator - House Public Information Services


A full-time position with benefits is available with the Minnesota House of Representatives as Chief Photographer/Art and Production Coordinator for the nonpartisan Public Information Services office. The office supports the mission of the House of Representatives through news and information services, including: reporting on committees and floor sessions, informational publications, photography and television coverage.

This position exists to provide members, staff and the public with credible and timely nonpartisan public information through photographic services, and publication layout and design. Among the photography tasks are: supervising the photography office and assigning photographer duties to ensure complete coverage of all events; and providing members, staff and House offices with timely delivery of digital images of committee meetings, floor sessions, bill signings, news conferences and other events.

Among the art and production coordinator tasks are: performing layout and design work in order to produce professional and attractive department publications and projects, as well as joint House and Senate publications; working with the assistant director/editor on production and printing of all materials; and coordinating with the director, outside vendors, and House and Senate departments to ensure on-time completion of special projects.

A successful candidate will have a working knowledge of photojournalism, of latest photography techniques and technology, and publication production technology. Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Lightroom is essential. A successful candidate must have the ability to regularly lift, carry and manipulate photographic equipment (such as camera bodies, lenses, tripod, camera bag) in order to promptly and effectively react to photographic opportunities, sometimes on short notice

Must have a willingness to do a variety of tasks, and be flexible and able to work long and irregular hours during the legislative sessions and at certain other times. A successful candidate must have the ability to perform the services assigned in a professional, nonpartisan and confidential manner.

Salary range is $2,228.70 - $3,120.19 semi-monthly, commensurate with experience. This position is expected to begin in June 2022.
