The Minnesota House of Representatives is seeking non-partisan applicants with an interest in the legislative process to fill temporary Committee Page positions for the 2020 regular legislative session. These positions will begin February 2020 and continue for approximately 3-4 months.
Committee Pages provide various support services to legislators, staff, and the public. Typical tasks include: assisting committee staff and members prior to and during committee hearings; collating and distributing hearing materials; recording committee hearings; running errands within the Capitol Complex for members and staff; delivering supplies; and receiving and delivering messages from visitors. Pages also perform or are available for similar tasks in the House Chamber while the House is in session.
Committee Pages may be assigned to specific committees and must work closely with legislators and staff to ensure committee hearings function smoothly. They are required to attend all meetings of assigned committees. In addition to early morning and daytime shifts, pages are frequently required to work evenings and occasional weekend hours.
The ideal candidate is a motivated, non-partisan individual with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong desire to serve in the legislative process. Successful candidates must value professionalism and be willing to work long hours in a cooperative manner until a given task is complete or meeting is concluded.
Hourly rate is $15.00-$16.87, 35-40 hours per week.
