Full-time Research Consultant position in the DFL Caucus of the Minnesota House of Representatives.
Responsibilities include working with assigned House committees, individual DFL legislators, and appropriate legislative staff to summarize legislation, draft amendments, track bills, conduct research, prepare memos and maintain communication with DFL legislators, staff, and other interested parties. This position is expected to cover House committees relating to Government Operations, Elections and State Government Finance.
We prefer someone with: (1) a graduate or professional degree and equivalent experience in a pertinent field; (2) demonstrated ability to provide research and analysis; (3) excellent written and oral communication skills; and (4) PC experience and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Position requires knowledge of state government and the legislative process, and familiarity with DFL legislative priorities. Must have the ability to work long and irregular hours (including evenings and weekends) especially during legislative session.
Entry salary $2,131.71 semi-monthly, commensurate with experience ($51,164 annually). Excellent benefits.
