Controller/CFO - House Budget & Accounting Office


The House Budget and Accounting Office is a non-partisan department that provides the management functions of budgeting, accounting, reporting, expenditure approval, accounts payable, and payroll functions for the Minnesota House of Representatives.

This position has responsibility for the installation and control of sound budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, and purchasing systems and procedures. Duties include review and approval of all payroll and expenditure abstracts, and the set up, maintenance, and security of records, systems, and data. Additional responsibilities include supervision of the payroll and account payable functions of the office.

Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of high level administrative and fiscal management experience and a demonstrated track record of accomplishments. Ability to direct an accounting department is important. Experience in reporting to a public, non-profit, or elected board in the above responsibility areas valuable. A good understanding of state government and the legislative process preferred. Excellent analytical and written communications skills necessary. Thorough knowledge and understanding of computer applications for budget analysis and data management important.

BA/BS in business, public administration or related field required; CPA, CMA, or MBA desired.
