The nonpartisan Research Department of the Minnesota House of Representatives is accepting applications for one Legislative Analyst position. This analyst will work on property taxes and tax modeling, and may also work with the department technology support team.
We are aiming for a January start date for this person. This position is regular, full-time, with benefits.
We want someone who has: (1) a masterís degree or equivalent in public policy, public affairs, economics, statistics, or a similar field; (2) experience with data management and analysis software or programing languages; (3) excellent human relations and teamwork skills; (4) excellent oral and written communication skills; (5) the ability to communicate quantitative information to an audience without quantitative training; and (6) interest in public policy and government. Some knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and networks is a plus. Knowledge of the legislative process is desirable but not required.
The Research Department is a nonpartisan office charged with providing research and legal services to the entire membership of the House of Representatives. Legislative Analysts work independently and in small teams, providing bill and amendment drafting; research and analysis concerning laws and government policies, programs, and finances; and related staff assistance for House committees and members.
