Administrative Assistant - Chief Clerk's Office


Full-time, non-partisan position with benefits to start immediately in the Chief Clerk's Office of the Minnesota House of Representatives.

The primary duties of the position are to provide general administrative support to the front desk in the preparation and production of materials needed to facilitate the legislative process. This includes creating and maintaining a comprehensive electronic directory of the PDF files of all versions of bills; compiling, formatting and proofreading other documents needed on the House floor; and serve as the main duplicating back-up in the Chief Clerk's Office. Interim work primarily involves extensive participation in proofreading and assisting with the printing of the Permanent Journal of the House.

Accuracy and attention to detail are critical. Computer skills and a basic understanding of a network computing environment and MS Office applications are required. Experience with the operation of the Docutech machine and other copying equipment preferred. Knowledge of the legislative process is highly desirable. Applicants must have strong communication skills and have the ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a team player, and be able to handle pressure well and meet tight deadlines. Long and irregular hours during the legislative session are to be expected.

Entry salary: $1,726.67 semi-monthly, commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits.
