JUDICIARY FINANCE AND CIVIL LAW MINUTES

Representative Jamie Becker-Finn, Chair of the Committee on Judiciary Finance and Civil Law, called the virtual meeting to order at 8:30 AM on January 28, 2021 pursuant to House rule 10.01. The meeting was broadcast via Zoom and House Public Information Services.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Hollins moved that the minutes of January 26, 2021, be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Vice Chair Moller moved that HF 113 be recommended to be placed on the General Register.

Vice Chair Moller presented HF 113, a bill for an act relating to domestic violence; enacting the Uniform Recognition and Enforcement of Canadian Orders for Protection Act; amending Minnesota Statutes 2020, section 518B.01, subdivisions 14, 19a; proposing coding for new law as Minnesota Statutes, chapter 518F.

Vice Chair Moller moved that HF 114 be recommended to be placed on the General Register.

Vice Chair Moller moved that the H0114A1 amendment be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Vice Chair Moller presented HF 114 as amended, a bill for an act relating to civil actions; suspending the expiring of statutory deadlines imposed upon judicial proceedings during a peacetime emergency; amending Laws 2020, chapter 74, article 1, section 16.
