MINUTES

Representative Jim Davnie, Chair of the Education Finance Committee, called the virtual meeting to order at 10:30am on March 3, 2022, pursuant to House rule 10.01. The meeting was broadcasted via Zoom and House Public Information Services.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Rep. Sandstede moved that the minutes from March 2, 2022, be approved. Motion prevailed.

HF 1408 (Rep. Becker-Finn) - Sign language and English interpreter requirements modified.

Rep. Jordan moved that HF 1408 be presented before the committee; be laid over for further consideration and possible inclusion in a future omnibus bill.

Chair Davnie moved that the A2 author’s amendment to HF 1408 be presented to and adopted by the committee. A voice vote was taken. Motion prevailed; the amendment was adopted.

Rep. Becker-Finn presented HF1408, as amended.

Rep. Jordan renewed the motion to lay over HF 1408, as amended, for possible inclusion or for further consideration at a later date.

HF 2199 (Rep. Vang) - Special education aid shift modified.

Rep. Richardson moved that HF 2199 be presented before the committee; be laid over for further consideration and possible inclusion in a future omnibus bill.

Chair Davnie moved that the A2 author’s amendment to HF 2199 be presented to and adopted by the committee. A voice vote was taken. Motion prevailed; the amendment was adopted.

Rep. Vang presented HF 2199, as amended.

Rep. Richardson renewed the motion to lay over HF 2199, as amended, for possible inclusion or for further consideration at a later date.

HF 2674 (Rep. Hansen) - Increase referendum equalization aid for the South St. Paul school district.

Rep. Marquart moved that HF 2674 be presented before the committee; be referred to the Taxes Committee.

Rep. Hansen presented HF 2674.

Rep. Marquart renewed the motion that HF 2674 be referred to the Taxes Committee. A roll call vote was taken. Motion prevailed.
