CHILDCARE ACCESS AND AFFORDABILITY SUBCOMMITTEE
MINUTES

Representative Franson, Chair of the Childcare Access and Affordability Subcommittee, called the meeting to order at 8:20 AM on February 22, 2017, in Room 200 of the State Office Building. A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Quam moved to approve the minutes of February 8, 2017. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Presentation by WomenVenture about child care cooperatives and child care business training.

Elaine Wyatt, Executive Director, WomenVenture;
Representative Peggy Flanagan;
Dr. Arnaldo Curiele, Vice President of Public Policy and Racial Justice, YWCA Minneapolis.

Representative Peterson assumed the gavel at 8:39 AM.

HF1458 (Franson) Child care provisions modified.

Representative Franson moved that HF1458 be approved and recommended to the Committee on Health and Human Services Reform.

Testimony was taken on HF1458.

Melinda Hugdahl, Legal Aid, Kids Can’t Wait Coalition;
Beverly Turner, Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis;
Daniel Gumnit, CEO, People Serving People.

Representative Franson renewed the motion that HF1458 be approved and recommended to the Committee on Health and Human Services Reform. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 AM.
