MINUTES

Representative Sondra Erickson, Chair of the Education Innovation Policy Committee, began the meeting and officially called the meeting to order at 8:15 AM on February 27, 2018, in Room 10 of the State Office Building. A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Kunesh-Podein moved approval of the minutes from the February 22, 2018 meeting. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Jessup presented HF 2768.

The following 11th Grade students from Hopkins High School speaking on behalf of Girls United MN testified in favor of HF 2768: Jessica Melnik, Nhaila Soosai, Salma Said, Lia Harel, Elizabeth Sirianni, Saralee Reed, Mary O’Neil, Emily Kirk, Emma Rock, and Lily Zdechlik.

Beth Holger-Ambrose, Executive Director of The Link, testified in favor of HF 2768.

Quisha Stewart, Safe Harbor Division Director of The Link, testified in favor of HF 2768.

Caroline Palmer, from the Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MNCASA), testified in favor of HF 2768.

Adosh Unni, Director of Government Relations for the Minnesota Department of Education, testified on HF 2768.

Representative Jessup moved HF 2768 be laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

Representative Erickson laid over HF 2768 for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

Representative Erickson presented HF 2738 and moved to re-refer it to the Education Finance Committee.

Adosh Unni, Director of Government Relations for the Minnesota Department of Education, testified on HF 2738.

Representative Erickson renewed her motion to re-refer HF 2738 to the Education Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Erickson presented HF 2737.


Representative Erickson moved to re-refer HF 2737 to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting adjourned at 9:44 AM.
