MINUTES

Representative Sondra Erickson, Chair of the Education Innovation Policy Committee, began the meeting at 8:15 AM on March 3, 2015, in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

The meeting began at 8:15 AM.

A quorum was present at 8:22 AM and the meeting was called to order.


Representative Petersburg testified to House File 733 (A bill for an act relating to education; clarifying the referendum revenue authorization for Independent School District No. 761, Owatonna public schools).

Peter Grant, the Superintendent of Owatonna public schools, testified in favor of House File 733.

Tom Sager, the Director of Finance and Operations of Owatonna public schools, testified in favor of House File 733.


Representative JoAnn Ward moved to approve the minutes of February 26, 2015. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


Chair Erickson moved to re-refer House File 733 to the Committee on Education Finance.

Representative Tim O’Driscoll testified to House File 887 (A bill for an act relating to natural resources; dedicating unclaimed lottery prize money for acquisition of certain school trust lands; providing for condemnation of school trust lands to be acquired; appropriating money;amending Minnesota Statutes 2014, sections 94.165, subdivision 2; 349A.08, subdivision 5; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 92).

Representative Carlos Mariani moved House File 394 for re-referral to the Committee on Education Finance.

Representative Freiberg testified to House File 394 (A bill for an act relating to education; integrating service-learning into Minnesota's education system; establishing an evidence-based service-learning grant program; providing for a task force on teacher preparation and licensure requirements related to service learning; appropriating money; amending Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 124D.50, by adding a subdivision; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 124D).

Representative Nick Zerwas testified to House File 1164 (A bill for an act relating to transportation; modifying requirements for commercial motor vehicle road test for school bus endorsement; modifying provisions relating to third-party testing for school bus companies; amending Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 171.01, by adding subdivisions; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 171).
