MINUTES


Representative Mariani, Chair of Committee on Education Policy, called the meeting to order at 10:03 A.M. February 27, 2014 in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Chair Mariani moved that HF1964 be referred to the General Registry.

Rep. Murphy presented HF1964 (Murphy M.); Charter Schools located in townships and admitting students pre-K through grade 6 enrollment preferences clarified.

The following people offered testimony on HF1964:
Gene Piccolo, Minnesota Association of Charter Schools

Chair Mariani moves to amend his previous motion that HF1964 be referred to the General Registry to move that HF1964 be laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus policy bill.

Chair Mariani moved that HF2010 be referred to the General Registry.

Rep. Slocum presented HF2010 (Slocum.); Charter School approval provisions modified.

The following people offered testimony on HF2010:

Chair Mariani moves to amend his previous motion that HF2010 be referred to the General Registry to move that HF2010 be laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus policy bill.

Chair Mariani moved that HF2180 be referred to the Commerce Committee.

Rep. Murphy presented HF2180 (Murphy E.); School district employee health coverage provisions amended, and money appropriated

Chair Mariani moved to amend HF2180 (see attached amendment H2180A1) THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED

Rep. Urdaul moved to amend HF2180, as amended (see attached amendment H2180A5) THE MOTION PREVAILED

Rep. Kresha moved to amend HF2180, as amended (see attached amendment H2180A7)

Rep. Wills moved to amend HF2180, as amended (see attached amendment H2180A8) THE MOTION DID NOT PREVAIL. THE AMENDMENT WAS NOT ADOPTED.

Rep. Kresha moved to amend HF2180, as amended (see attached amendment H2180A9) THE MOTION DID NOT PREVAIL. THE AMENDMENT WAS NOT ADOPTED.

Chair Mariani moves to amend his previous motion that HF2180, as amended be referred to the Commerce Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:38 P.M.
