MINUTES

Representative Poppe, Chair of Committee on Agriculture Policy, called the meeting to order at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Clark Johnson introduced HF1829, creating civil liability immunity for agritourism activities.

Representative Johnson moved to re-refer HF1829 to the Civil Law Committee.

Representative Johnson moved to adopt amendment H1829A1. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Thom Peterson, Minnesota Farmers Union, testified in support of HF1829.

Doug Busselman, Minnesota Farm Bureau, Director of Public Policy testified in support of HF1829.

Doug Hoffbauer, Farmer - Procter, MN - testified in support of HF1829.

Jan Joannidis testified in support of HF1829.

Joel Carlson, Minnesota Association for Justice, testified on HF1829.

Santo Cruz, Minnesota Department of Agriculture, testified in support of HF1829.

Representative Johnson renewed his motion to re-refer HF 1829, as amended, to Civil Law. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Benson introduced HF391, adopting Minnesota Companion Animal Protection Act.

Janelle Dixon, President, Animal Humane Society, testified in opposition to HF391.

Elaine Hanson, Minnesota Council of Dog Clubs, testified in support of HF391.

Mike Fry, Animal Advisory Commission, testified in support of HF391.

Dr. Linda Wolf testified in support of HF391.

Dr. Jane Pieratozzi, Executive Director, Faithful Friends Animal Society, testified in support of HF391.

Representative Petersburg moved approval of the minutes from Thursday, March 14, 2013. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF391 was layed over.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:59 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014.
