MINUTES

Representative Lanning, Chair of the State Government Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 8:15 a.m. on January 18, 2011, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

All members were present.

A quorum was present.

Representative Benson moved that the minutes from the committee meeting on January 13, 2011, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Lawrence Martin, Executive Director of the Legislative Commission on Pensions and Retirement presented an overview of the current status of public pensions in Minnesota.

Howard Bicker, Executive Director of the Minnesota State Board of Investment testified on the status of public pension investments.

Dave Bergstrom Executive Director of the Minnesota State Retirement System (MSRS) presented an overview of the MSRS.

Mary Vanek, Executive Director of the Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) presented an introduction to PERA pensions. Because Ms. Vanek did not have enough time to finish her presentation, she will be asked to return to present to a future meeting of the Committee.

Laurie Hacking, Executive Director of the Teachers Retirement Association (TRA) presented an introduction to TRA pensions. Because Ms. Hacking did not have enough time to finish her presentation, she will be asked to return to present to a future meeting of the Committee.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:05 a.m.
