MINUTES

Representative Cornish, Chair of the Public Safety and Crime Prevention Policy and Finance Committee, called the forty-ninth meeting to order at 10:18 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2012, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Smith moved that the minutes of February 29, 2012, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF2508 (Barrett) Aligning state-controlled substance schedules with federal controlled substance schedules; modifying the authority of the Board of Pharmacy to regulate controlled substances; providing for penalties.

Chairman Cornish moved that HF2508 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Government Operations and Elections Committee.

The committee heard testimony on HF2508.

Chairman Cornish renewed his motion that HF2508 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Government Operations and Elections Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1719 (Gauthier) Driving while impaired crime definition of the term "drug" added and the term "hazardous substance" modified.

Representative Gauthier moved that HF1719 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee.

The committee heard testimony on HF1719.

Representative Gauthier renewed his motion that HF1719 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF2435 (Woodard) Fusion center to assist with detection, prevention, and investigation of, and response to criminal and terrorist activities provided.

Chairman Cornish announced that due to time constraints, HF2435 would be taken up at a later date.
