PUBLIC SAFETY AND CRIME PREVENTION POLICY AND FINANCE COMMITTEE

MINUTES

Representative Cornish, Chair of the Public Safety and Crime Prevention Policy and Finance Committee, called the forty-fifth meeting to order at 10:16 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

HF1835 (Scott) Sheriff vehicle list of paint colors expanded.

The committee heard testimony on HF1835.

Representative McDonald moved that the minutes of February 16, 2012, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chairman Cornish moved that HF1835 be recommended to pass and sent to the General Register.

Chairman Cornish moved the H1835A1 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chairman Cornish renewed his motion that HF1835, as amended, be recommended to pass and sent to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1665 (Gruenhagen) Fifth degree assault and domestic assault provisions added to crime of violence.

Representative Gruenhagen moved that HF1665 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee.

Representative Gruenhagen moved to orally amend HF1665 to delete Section 1, line 2.10 "August 1, 2011" and insert "August 1, 2012". THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

HF2246 (Daudt) Convictions under the original criminal vehicular operation law allowed to enhance DWI offenses, and legislative oversight corrected.

Representative Daudt moved HF2246 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee.

HF1938 (Cornish) Fugitive apprehension unit authorized to apply search warrants.

Representative Cornish moved HF1938 before the committee.
