PUBLIC SAFETY AND CRIME PREVENTION POLICY AND FINANCE COMMITTEE

MINUTES

Representative Cornish, Chair of the Public Safety and Crime Prevention Policy and Finance Committee, called the seventh meeting to order at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Gauthier moved that the minutes of January 26, 2011, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Vice Chair Woodard assumed the gavel at 10:17 a.m.

HF0141 (Cornish) Increases penalties for injuring public safety dogs.

Representative Cornish moved that HF0141 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee.

The committee heard testimony on HF0141.

Representative Gauthier moved to orally amend HF0141, Subdivision 1.b: delete "$15,000" and insert "$25,000". THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Smith moved to orally amend HF0141, Subdivision 2.b: delete "$5,000" and insert "$10,000". THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Cornish renewed his motion that HF0141, as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF0151 (Cornish) Requires Commissioner of Corrections to post information on the internet for all predatory offenders.

Representative Cornish moved that HF0151 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee.

Representative Cornish moved the HF0151A1 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

The committee heard testimony on HF0151.

Representative Cornish renewed his motion that HF0151, as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Civil Law Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
