GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS AND ELECTIONS

MINUTES

Representative Peppin, Chair of the Government Operations and Elections Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2011, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Nelson moved to approve the minutes from February 2, 2011. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED.

HF 1 (Fabian) Environmental permitting efficiency provided, and environmental review requirements modified.

Representative McFarland moves that H.F. 1 be recommended to pass, and be placed on the General Register.

Representative McFarland renewed her motion that H.F. 1 be recommended to pass, and be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED. HF. 1 WAS RECOMMENDED TO PASS.

HF 89 (Benson) Voter picture identification required before receiving a ballot, voter identification card provided at no charge, and provisional balloting procedure established.

Representative Quam moved that H.F. 89 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the House Committee on State Government Finance.

Representative Quam moved the 0089A1 amendment to H.F. 89. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

H.F. 210 (Kiffmeyer) Voter picture identification required before receiving a ballot, identification cards provided at no charge, provisional ballot procedures established, et al.

Representative Urdahl moved that H.F. 210 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the House Committee on State Government Finance.

Representative Peppin moved the H0210DE1 amendment to H.F. 210. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
