EDUCATION REFORM

MINUTES

A quorum was present and Representative Erickson, Chair of the Education Reform Committee, called the meeting to order at 8:17 AM on February 17, 2011, in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

No members were excused.

Representative Branden Petersen moved that the minutes from the committee meeting on February 15, 2011, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED.

HF 355 (Kiffmeyer) Home school mandates reduced, and superintendents relieved of reporting requirements.

Representative Myhra moved that HF 355 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Education Finance. Representative Myhra moved the H0355A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Kiffmeyer presented the bill and stood for questions.

The committee heard testimony about the bill.

Representative Myhra renewed the motion that HF 355, as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Education Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Doepke assumed the gavel at 9:30 AM.

HF 511 (Erickson) Public school unneeded mandates removed.

Representative Erickson moved that HF 511 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Education Finance.

Representative Erickson presented the bill.

The committee heard testimony on the bill.
