Representative Kory Kath, Vice-Chair of the K-12 Education Policy & Oversight Committee, called the fifty-fourth meeting to order at 8:40 AM on Thursday, March 18, 2010 in the Basement hearing room of the State Office Building.

HF 3421 (Mariani) - A bill for an act relating to education; establishing high school assessments to determine college and career readiness; amending Minnesota Statutes 2009 Supplement, section 120B.30, subdivision 1, by adding a subdivision.

Chair Kath resumed deliberation on HF 3421, as amended (working off the UEH3421-1 unofficial engrossment, which encapsulates the H3421A6, H3421A9, and H3421A7 amendments which were adopted on March 17, 2010).

Rep. Mariani renewed his motion that the H3421A23 amendment be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Kath moved that the H3421A24 amendment be adopted, with the following oral incorporation:

Rep. Downey moved that the H3421A18 amendment be adopted.

Rep. Downey withdrew the H3421A18 amendment.

Rep. Downey moved that the H3421A19 amendment be adopted.

Rep. Davnie moved the H3421A26 amendment with the following incorporations:

Rep. Downey moved that the H3421A20 amendment be adopted.

Rep. Mariani moved the following oral amendment to HF 3421, as amended:

THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Mariani renewed his motion that HF 3421, as amended, be recommended to pass and referred to the Committee on Finance, with a recommended re-referral to the K-12 Finance Division. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


Rep. Loon moved that the minutes of March 17, 2010 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE ADOPTED.
