Chair Thomas Huntley began the twenty-sixth meeting of the Health Care and Human Services Finance Division at 1:19 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, in Room 200 of the State Office Building. A quorum was not present.

Testimony continued from March 31 on the Governor’s Supplemental Budget Recommendations on General Assistance Medical Care (GAMC):

A quorum was present at 1:42 p.m. and the Chair formally called the meeting to order. The committee legislative assistant noted the roll:

Vice Chair Abeler moved approval of the minutes from the March 26 and 31, 2009 meetings. The motion prevailed.

HF 120 (Hosch) - Health care cooperative arrangement oversight established, rural area health care service access increased, and money appropriated.

Representative Hosch moved HF 120 as previously amended to pass and be returned to the Committee on Finance and gave a brief explanation of the bill. Also testifying in support of the bill:

Discussion followed with Julie Sonier, Director, Health Economics Program, Minnesota Department of Health, responding to questions of members.

Testifying in opposition to the bill:

Discussion continued and Chair Huntley laid over HF 120 for possible inclusion in the Health and Human Services Finance omnibus bill.
