Representative Ann Lenczewski, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 6:08 P.M. on Thursday, March 15, 2007, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

Representative Kohls moved to amend HF0435 as follows:
Page 1, line 13, delete "subdivision 1" and insert "subdivision 1b".
THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Rukavina moved HF1541 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Omnibus Tax Bill.

Representative Rukavina moved to amend HF1541 as follows:
Page 4, line 11, delete "under chapter 136G"and insert "qualifying under section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code." THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

HF1963 Thissen Income tax credit provided for donations to qualified scholarship-granting organizations.

Chanda Smith (parent), James Field (Minnesota Council for Private Education Coalition for Kids) and Lee McGrath (Executive Director, Institute for Justice) testified on HF1541.
