COMMERCE AND LABOR COMMITTEE

MINUTES


Representative Sheldon Johnson, Chair of the Telecommunications Regulation and Infrastructure Division, called the meeting to order at 8:02 A.M. on January 11, 2007, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Johnson called the meeting to order at 8:02 A.M. A quorum was present.

Introductions were made my members and staff. Chair Johnson presented rules and procedures of the division.

Edward Garvey, Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Commerce and Diane Wells, Special Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Commerce gave an overview of the Departments Energy and Telecommunications division.

Dr. Burl Haar, Executive Secretary and Mark Oberlander, Manager of the Telecommunications Unit of the Public Utilities Commissioner gave an overview of the Commission and its duties. A handout " History and Evolution of Telecommunications Regulation in Minnesota" was given to division members.

Jessica Palmer-Denig, Assistant Attorney General and Manager of the Residential and Small Utilities Division from the Office of the Minnesota Attorney General gave Division members an overview of the duties of the Attorney General's Office in regards to telecommunications.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 A.M.
