MINUTES


Representative Mary Liz Holberg, Chair of the Transportation Finance Committee, called the Fifteenth meeting to order at 12:33 P.M. on Tuesday March 15, 2005, in
Room B of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Hornstein moved approval of the March 10, 2005 Transportation Finance Committee Meeting Minutes. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED.

HF0105 (Dorman) Special Persian Gulf War veteran’s motorcycle license plates authorized.

Representative Holberg moved HF0105 be presented and laid over for possible inclusion in the Transportation Finance Omnibus Bill.

Representative Dorman presented HF0105.

Representative Holberg renewed her motion that HF0105 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Transportation Finance Omnibus Bill. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1545 (Erhardt) Transportation; county state-aid highway formula calculation modified, county wheelage tax authorized, vehicle registration taxes modified, fuel taxes increased, highway bonds and metro sales tax authorized, and money appropriated.

Representative Hornstein moved HF1545 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Transportation Finance Omnibus Bill. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1590 (Magnus) Bonding bills required to fund transportation purposes including local streets and highways, motor vehicle sales tax revenue dedicated, motor fuel tax increased, bonds issued, money appropriated, and constitutional amendment proposed.

Representative Holberg moved HF1590 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Transportation Finance Omnibus Bill. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1353 (Beard) Motor fuel tax rates increased, county and city transportation fees and taxes authorized, bonds issued, and money appropriated.

Representative Lieder moved HF1353 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Transportation Finance Omnibus Bill. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1671 (Abrams) Motor vehicle sales tax proceeds allocation modified, highway and transit bonds issued, money appropriated, and constitutional amendment proposed.

Representative Abrams moved HF1671 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Transportation Finance Omnibus Bill. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


HF1735 (Erhardt) Metropolitan area sales tax imposed with the proceeds dedicated to transportation and transit improvements, allocation of revenues for the motor vehicle sales tax provided, and money appropriated.

Representative Hornstein moved HF1735 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Transportation Finance Omnibus Bill. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


Discussion occurred about the Mn/DOT Freight Study.

HF1095 (Nelson, P.) Special veterans license plates authorized for display on certain one-ton trucks.

Representative Holberg moved HF1095 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Transportation Finance Omnibus Bill.

Representative Nelson presented HF1095.

Representative Holberg renewed her motion that HF1095 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Transportation Finance Omnibus Bill. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


Discussion occurred about the Met Council Budget.
