1.2Page 16, after line 1, insert:
1.3"Veterans in Crisis Deescalation Training.
1.4 Of this amount, up to $100,000 each year
1.5of the biennium may be spent for training
1.6state and local community safety personnel
1.7in the use of crisis deescalation techniques
1.8for use with Minnesota veterans following
1.9their return from active military service in
1.10a combat zone. The commissioner must
1.11consult with the director of the Minnesota
1.12Peace Officers and Training Board, and
1.13may consult with any other state or local
1.14governmental official or nongovernmental
1.15authority the commissioner determines to be
1.16relevant, when selecting a service provider
1.17for this training. Among any other criteria
1.18the commissioner may establish for the
1.19selection, the training provider must have a
1.20demonstrated understanding of the transitions
1.21and challenges that veterans may experience
1.22during their reentry into society following
1.23combat service. The commissioner must
1.24ensure that training opportunities provided
1.25are reasonably distributed statewide."
