1.3    "Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 60A.06, subdivision 3, is amended to read:
1.4    Subd. 3. Limitation on combination policies. (a) Unless specifically authorized by
1.5subdivision 1, clause (4), it is unlawful to combine in one policy coverage permitted by
1.6subdivision 1, clauses (4) and (5)(a). This subdivision does not prohibit the simultaneous
1.7sale of these products, but the sale must involve two separate and distinct policies.
1.8(b) This subdivision does not apply to group policies.
1.9(c) This subdivision does not apply to policies permitted by subdivision 1, clause
1.10(4), that contain benefits providing acceleration of life, endowment, or annuity benefits
1.11in advance of the time they would otherwise be payable, or to long-term care policies as
1.12defined in section 62A.46, subdivision 2, or chapter 62S.
1.13(d) This subdivision does not prohibit combining life coverage with one or more of
1.14the following coverages:
1.15(1) specified disease or illness coverage;
1.16(2) other limited benefit health coverage;
1.17(3) hospital indemnity coverage;
1.18(4) other fixed indemnity products,
1.19provided that the prescribed minimum standards applicable to those categories of coverage
1.20are met."
