1.3Page 1, line 24, delete "1,418,150,000" and insert "1,418,180,000"
1.4Page 6, line 15, delete "$3,486,000" and insert "$3,466,000"
1.5Page 10, delete section 1 and insert:

1.6    "Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 135A.25, subdivision 4, is amended to
1.7read:
1.8    Subd. 4. Minnesota Office of Higher Education responsibilities. (a) For private
1.9postsecondary institutions, the Minnesota Office of Higher Education must develop
1.10educational materials considering the recommendations by the Minnesota Office of Higher
1.11Education and others and at least annually convene and sponsor meetings and workshops
1.12and provide educational strategies for faculty, students, administrators, institutions, and
1.13bookstores to inform all interested parties on strategies for reducing the costs of course
1.14materials for students attending postsecondary institutions.
1.15    (b) The Minnesota Office of Higher Education must identify methods to compile and
1.16distribute information on publishers that sell or distribute course material for classroom use
1.17in postsecondary institutions in a manner that meets the requirements and complies with
1.18subdivision 2. The Minnesota Office of Higher Education must also evaluate ways to make
1.19this information available for use by students and faculty in postsecondary institutions."
1.20Page 12, after line 16, insert:

1.21    "Sec.7. REPORT; FEDERAL TEXTBOOK INFORMATION REQUIREMENTS.
1.22By January 15, 2010, the Office of Higher Education must report to the committees
1.23of the legislature responsible for higher education finance on the implementation of
1.24textbook information requirements under United States Code, title 20, section 1015b,
1.25effective July 1, 2010. In preparing the report, the office must work with representatives
1.26of textbook publishers, the Student Advisory Council, Minnesota State Colleges and
1.27Universities, the University of Minnesota, and the Private College Council. At a
2.1minimum, the report must include a template that publishers may use to provide the
2.2required information in a consistent format to all Minnesota campuses, and make
2.3recommendations of methods to disseminate pricing information to support students and
2.4faculty in making well informed decisions about course materials."
2.5Renumber the sections in sequence and correct the internal references
2.6Amend the title accordingly
