1.8more physicians or surgeons licensed under chapter 147 that designates the scope of
1.9collaboration necessary to manage the care of patients. The advanced practice registered
1.10nurse and the one or more physicians must have experience in providing care to patients
1.11with the same or similar medical problems, except that certified registered nurse
1.12anesthetists may continue to provide anesthesia in collaboration with and physicians,
1.13including surgeons, podiatrists licensed under chapter 153, and dentists licensed under
1.14chapter 150A that designates the scope of collaboration necessary to manage the care of
1.15patients. Certified registered nurse anesthetists must provide anesthesia services at the
1.16same hospital, clinic, or health care setting as the physician, surgeon, podiatrist, or dentist.

1.17    Sec. 3. Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 148.171, is amended by adding a subdivision
1.18to read:
1.19    Subd. 7a. Interdisciplinary consultation, collaboration, and referral plan.
1.20"Interdisciplinary consultation, collaboration, and referral plan" means a mutually agreed
1.21upon written plan developed between a nurse practitioner or a clinical nurse specialist, and
1.22the providers listed in the document that will guide the management of patients under the
1.23care of the nurse practitioner, nurse midwife, or clinical nurse specialist, and will be made
1.24available to patients upon request. The plan must include:
2.1(1) the designation of a physician practice group, physician, or other health care
2.2group practice with whom the advanced practice registered nurse has a preestablished
2.3relationship for consultation, collaboration, and referral;
2.4(2) the designation of a physician practice group, physician, and other health
2.5care providers with whom the advanced practice registered nurse has a preestablished
2.6arrangement to accept the transfer of care if the advanced practice registered nurse is
2.7without admitting privileges or has transferred care to another provider;
2.8(3) the designation of hospitals or other inpatient facilities where patients requiring
2.9admission will be referred; and
2.10(4) the plan for transfer of or access to health records."
