PUBLIC SAFETY AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM FINANCE AND POLICY COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Mariani, Chair of the Committee on Public Safety and Criminal Justice Reform Finance and Policy, called the virtual meeting to order at 1:00 PM on February 24th, 2022, pursuant to House Rule 10.01. The meeting was broadcast via Zoom and House Public Information Services.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Frazier moved that the minutes of February 22nd, 2022, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


Representative Morrison presented HF 2668, a bill for an act
relating to public safety; establishing a grant to reimburse local law enforcement
agencies for the costs of obtaining or replacing epinephrine auto-injectors;
appropriating money.

Representative Frazier moved to refer HF 2668 to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Chair Mariani moved to layover HF 2668 for possible inclusion in this committee’s omnibus bill.

Representative Huot presented HF 3188, a bill for an act
relating to public safety; appropriating money to provide reimbursements to state
and local law enforcement agencies that have paid incentive bonuses to encourage
individuals to become peace officers; requiring a report; proposing coding for new
law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 299A.

Representative Huot moved to refer HF 3188 to the Committee on Ways and Means

Chair Mariani moved to layover HF 3188 for possible inclusion in this committee’s omnibus bill.


Representative Novotny presented HF 3292, a bill for an act
relating to public safety; establishing a reimbursement program for use of force
training; appropriating money.

Representative Novotny moved to refer HF 3292 to the Committee on Ways and Means

Representative Novotny moved to amend HF 3292 DE1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
