PUBLIC SAFETY AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM FINANCE AND POLICY COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Mariani, Chair of the Committee on Public Safety and Criminal Justice Reform Finance and Policy, called the virtual meeting to order at 1:01 PM on March 2nd, 2021 pursuant to House Rule 10.01. The meeting was broadcast via Zoom and House Public Information Services.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Klevorn moved that the minutes of February 26th, 2021 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


Chair Mariani moved that HF 1370 be referred to the General Register.

Chair Mariani moved the H1370DE1 Amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Mariani presented HF 1370, a bill for an act relating to public safety; authorizing the commissioner of public safety to accept grant funding; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 299A.

Testifying on HF 1370:

Chair Mariani moved that HF 1370 be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus bill.

Chair Mariani moved that HF 1366 be referred to the General Register.

Representative Mariani presented HF 1366, a bill for an act relating to public safety; clarifying legislative intent for the Peace Officer Standards and Training Board's discipline review committee; amending Minnesota Statutes 2020, sections 13.41, subdivision 3; 214.10, subdivision 11; 626.842, subdivision 2; 626.8435, subdivision 1.

Testifying on HF 1366:
• Erik Misselt, Executive Director, Minnesota Police Officer Standards and Training Board

Chair Mariani moved that HF 1366 be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus bill.
