TRANSPORTATION POLICY AND FINANCE COMMITTEE
MINUTES

Representative Tim Kelly, Chair of the Transportation Policy and Finance Committee, called the third meeting to order at 12:48 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Kelly called the meeting to order at 12:48 p.m. A quorum was present.

Representative Nash moved to approve the minutes of January 14, 2015. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Bill Gardner, Director of MnDOT’s Freight and Rail Office, testified and gave an overview of the freight and rail system in Minnesota.

Dave Christianson, Rail Planner for MnDOT, testified and gave an overview of the railroad system in Minnesota.

Brian Sweeney, Regional Assistant Vice President for BNSF Railway, testified and gave an overview of oil train safety.

John Apitz, Legislative Counsel for the Minnesota Regional Railroads Association, testified and gave an overview of short line railroads.

Phillip Qualy, State Legislative Director of the United Transportation Union, testified and gave an overview of the United Transportation Union.

David Brown, Chairman of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineer and Trainmen, testified and gave an overview of the organization.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:29 p.m.
