MINUTES

Representative Davids, Chair of the Tax Committee, began the meeting at 10:15 A.M. on March 12th, 2015, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Davids began the meeting at 10:15. A quorum was NOT present.

Representative Barrett assumed the gavel at 10:16.

A quorum was present at 10:23 and the meeting was called to order.

Representative Simonson moved to approve the minutes from March 11th, 2015. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Barrett moved that HF594 come before the committee.

HF594 Anderson, M.: Aviation tax on gasoline revenues dedicated as a substitute for aviation gasoline to the state airports fund.

Representative Anderson and Glenn Burke of the South St. Paul Airport, testified on HF594, first engrossment.

Representative Barrett moved that HF594 be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus tax bill.

Representative Anderson, S. moved that HF496 come before the committee.

HF496 Nornes: Building materials and supplies exempted from sales tax.

Representative Nornes, Dan McElroy of Hospitality Minnesota, and Joel Carlson of the Congress of Minnesota Resorts, testified on HF496, first engrossment.

Representative Anderson, S. moved that HF496 be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus tax bill.

Representative Davids assumed the gavel at 10:30.

Representative McDonald moved that HF1363 come before the committee.

HF1363 Franson: Cigarette stamp sale modified.

Representative McDonald moved that the H01363A1 amendment be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Franson, Tom Briant of the Minnesota Wholesale Marketers Association, Dale Erickson of Henry’s Foods, Inc., and Paul Cumings of the Minnesota Department testified on HF1363, first engrossment.

Representative McDonald moved that HF1363, as amended, be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus tax bill.

Representative Swedzinski moved that HF122 come before the committee.

HF122 Swedzinski: Motor vehicle purchases by local governments exemption expanded.

Representative Swedzinski moved that the H0122A1 amendment be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Swedzinski, Ben Martig of the City of Marshall, and Laura Ziegler of the League of Minnesota Cities, testified on HF122, first engrossment.

Representative Swedzinski moved that HF122, as amended, be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus tax bill.

Representative Erhardt moved that HF1367 come before the committee.

HF1367 Erhardt: Capital gains income subtraction allowed.

Representative Erhardt moved that the H01367A1 amendment be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Erhardt testified on HF1367, first engrossment.

Representative Erhardt moved that HF1367, as amended, be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus tax bill.
