AGRICULTURE FINANCE COMMITTEE
MINUTES

Representative Hamilton, Chair of the Agriculture Finance Committee, started the meeting at 10:15 A.M. on March 12, 2015, in Room Five of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Hamilton started the meeting at 10:15 A.M. A quorum was not present.

HF1216 Poppe, Farm mental health counseling support funding provided, and money appropriated.

Chair Hamilton laid over HF1216.

At 10:20 A.M a quorum was present, and Representative Hamilton called the meeting to order.

Chair Greg Davids presented a resolution letter to Jerrold Tesmer.

Representative Dill moved that the minutes of March 3, 2015 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF907 Anderson, Fertilizer research grants funding provided, and money appropriated.

Representative Anderson moved the H0907DE1 amendment.

Santo Cruz and Greg Buzicky, with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA), provided testimony on the H0907DE1 amendment.

Representative Anderson renewed the motion to move H0907DE1 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Bill Bond with MDA’s Agricultural Fertilizer Research and Education Council (AFREC) provided testimony on HF907 as amended.

Chair Hamilton laid over HF907 as amended.

HF1499 Schultz, Best practices for food hubs and alternative community-based food distribution funding provided, report required, and money appropriated.

Representative Clark moved the HF1499A2 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

University of Minnesota Associate Director of Sustainable Local Foods Greg Schweser and Joe Domeier with the Minnesota Valley Action Council provided testimony on HF1499 as amended.

Chair Hamilton laid over HF1499.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:12 A.M.
