WAYS AND MEANS COMMITTEE

MINUTES

Representative Carlson, Chair of the Ways and Means Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:16 A.M. on Friday, May 16th, 2014, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Rep. Mahoney moved approval of the minutes of Tuesday, May 6, 2014. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED.

Rep. Clark moved that SF271, Third Engrossment, be recommended to be placed on the General Register.

Rep. Clark moved to amend SF271, Third Engrossment. (See attached amendment S0271A1). THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Clark presented SF271, Third Engrossment, as amended (Clark) Driving privilege license establishment; driver's license application procedures and requirements modifications.

Rep. Hamilton and Rep. Mariani testified on SF271, Third Engrossment, as amended.

Pat McCormack, Director, Driver and Vehicle Services, Minnesota Department of Public Safety, testified on SF271, Third Engrossment, as amended.

Karin Sonneman, County Attorney, Winona County, testified on SF271, Third Engrossment, as amended.

John Keller, Immigrant Law Center, responded to questions regarding SF271, Third Engrossment, as amended.

Alondra Cano, City Council, City of Minneapolis, testified on SF271, Third Engrossment, as amended.

Rep. Clark renewed the motion that SF271, Third Engrossment, as amended, be recommended to be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.



The meeting was adjourned at 10:53 A.M.
