MINUTES

Representative Gunter, Chair of the Jobs and Economic Development Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 12:35 p.m. on January 31, 2012, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative McFarlane moved that the minutes of May 3, 2011 and May 5, 2011 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Murray moved HF 1691 before committee.

HF1691 (Benson) Stewartville; fire station expansion and renovation funding provided, bonds issued, and money appropriated.

Testifying on HF1691 was Jimmy John King, Mayor of Stewartville, Ernie Oman, City Clerk of Racine, and Bill Schimmel, City Administrator of Stewartville.

Chair Gunther laid over HF1691.

Chair Gunther moved HF 1765 before committee.

HF 1765 (Crawford) Pine Technical College entrepreneurship and technology business incubator funding provided, bonds issues, and money appropriated.

Testifying on HF1765 was Robert Musgrove, Pine Technical College President.

Chair Gunther laid over HF1765.

Chair Gunther moved HF1804 before committee.

HF1804 (Murdock) Wadena, community center and swimming pool funding provided, bonds issued, and money appropriated.

Testifying on HF1804 was JD Burton, lobbyist for City of Wadena.

Chair Gunther laid over HF1804.

Chair Gunther moved HF1745 before committee.

HF1745 (Poppe) Hormel Institute funding provided, bonds issued, and money appropriated.

Representative Murray moved to amend HF 1745 as follows:
Page 1, lines 1.6 and 1.14 delete "$13,750.00" and insert "$13,500.00"
THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Testifying on HF 1745 was Gail Dennison, Hormel Institute, Jim Hurm, Austin Port Authority Director and City Administrator of Austin, Bonnie Rietz, Vice Chair of Hormel Foundation.

Chair Gunther laid over HF1745.

Chair Gunther moved HF1698 before committee.

HF1698 (Anzelc) Itasca County, regional fire station funding provided to acquire land, bonds issued and money appropriated.

Representative Anzelc discussed HF1698.

Chair Gunther laid over HF1698.

HF1257 (Clark) Nonprofit housing bonds issued for community land trusts.

Representative Clark discussed HF1257.

Testifying on HF 1257 was Teresa VanderBent, Executive Director, on behalf of Two Rivers Community Land Trust.

Representative Clark moved to remove the name of Representative Hayden from the official chief author of HF1257. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Clark moved to amend HF1257 as follows:
Page 3, line 3.1 delete "2011" and insert "2012". THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chair Gunther laid over HF1257.
