HIGHER EDUCATION POLICY AND FINANCE

MINUTES

Representative Nornes, Chair of the Higher Education Policy and Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 12:30 PM on March 3rd, 2011, in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

One member was excused.

A quorum was present.

Representative Vogel moved that the minutes from the committee meeting on March 1, 2011 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF717 (Abeler) Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system credit transfer required.

Representative Nornes moved that HF717 be heard and considered for possible inclusion in the Higher Education Omnibus Bill.

The committee heard testimony on HF717.

Testifying:

Representative Nornes moved that HF717 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Higher Education Omnibus Bill. The Motion Prevailed.

The committee heard testimony on a MnSCU Report to the Legislature titled "Improving Transfer for Credit."

The committee heard testimony on the Mayo Medical School.

Dr. Matthew Bernard, Department Chair of Family Medicine

HF378 (Scott) Graduate education study required in for-profit sector

Representative Dettmer moved that HF378 be heard and considered for possible inclusion in the Higher Education Omnibus Bill.

The committee heard testimony on HF378.

Mark Misukanis, Office of Higher Education

Representative Nornes moved that HF378 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Higher Education Omnibus Bill. The Motion Prevailed.
