GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS AND ELECTIONS COMMITTEE

MINUTES

Representative Peppin, Chair of the Government Operations and Elections Committee, called the fifty first meeting to order at 10:18 a.m. on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Hancock moved that the minutes of February 28, 2012 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1738 (Howes) Municipality detachment provided.

Chair Peppin moved that HF1738 be recommended to pass and sent to the General Register.

Chair Peppin moved the H1738A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED, AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

The committee heard testimony on HF1738, as amended.

Chair Peppin renewed her motion that HF1738 , as amended, be recommended to pass and sent to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF2327 (Benson) Election administration procedures for individuals who have been convicted of a felony modified.

Representative Murray moved that HF2327 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Public Safety and Crime Prevention Policy and Finance Committee.

Representative Murray moved the H2327A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED, AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

The committee heard testimony on HF2327, as amended.

Representative Murray renewed his motion that HF2327, as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Public Safety and Crime Prevention Policy and Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF518 (Leidiger) State-aid program rulemaking authority amended, fund allocation from overdimension motor vehicle permits amended, legislative report required on water permitting process for transportation projects, and clarifying and technical changes made.

Representative Murray moved that HF518 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the
State Government Finance Committee.

Representative Murray amended his motion that HF518 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Ways and Means Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
