MINUTES


Representative Kory Kath, Vice-Chair of the K-12 Education Policy & Oversight Committee, called the twenty-eighth meeting to order at 8:40 AM on Thursday, March 19, 2009 in the basement hearing room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll:

A quorum was present.

Rep. Newton moved the minutes that the from March 18, 2009 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE ADOPTED.

HF1665 (Swails) - A bill for an act relating to education; creating a best practices center for shared services; amending Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 6.78.

Rep. Swails moved that HF1665 be recommended to pass, and referred to the Committee on Finance.

Rep. Swails and Rep. McFarlane presented HF1665.

Rep. Swails renewed her motion that HF1665 be recommended to pass, and referred to the Committee on Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1630 (Kalin) – A bill for an act relating to education; creating a schedule for aligning assessments to academic standards; amending Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 120B.30, subdivision 1.

Chair Kath moved that HF1630 be recommended to pass.

Chair Kath moved the H1630DE4 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Kalin presented HF1630, as amended.

Testifying against HF1630, as amended, were:
