Representative Carlos Mariani, Chair of the K-12 Education Policy & Oversight Committee, called the fifty-second meeting to order at 8:37 AM on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in the Basement hearing room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll:

HF 3172 (Cornish) - A bill for an act relating to education; permitting advertisements within a baseball field.

Rep. McFarlane moved that HF 3172 be recommended to pass and referred to the Transportation and Transit Policy and Oversight Division.

Rep. McFarlane moved the H3172DE1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. McFarlane renewed her motion that HF 3172, as amended, be recommended to pass and referred to the Transportation and Transit Policy and Oversight Division.

HF 2867 (Newton) – A bill for an act relating to education; clarifying the definition of a child with a disability; specifying obligations to children with disabilities; amending Minnesota Statutes 2009 Supplement, section 125A.02, subdivision 1; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 125A; repealing Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 125A.03

Rep. Newton moved that HF 2867 be recommended to pass and referred to the committee on Finance, with a recommended re-referral to the K-12 Finance Division.

Rep. Newton moved the H2867A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Newton moved the H2867A2 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Newton moved the following oral amendment to HF 2867:

Page 1, Line 15, delete the new language

Page 2, Line 2, delete "is identified, located and evaluated"

THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Newton renewed his motion that HF 2867, as amended, be recommended to pass, and referred to the Committee on Finance, with a recommended re-referral to the K-12 Finance Division. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. McFarlane moved that the minutes of March 11, 2010, be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
