MINUTES


Representative Carlos Mariani, Chair of the K-12 Education Policy & Oversight Committee, unofficially called the twenty-sixth meeting to order at 8:36 AM on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 in the basement hearing room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll:

Rep. McFarlane moved that the minutes from March 12, 2009, be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE ADOPTED.

HF1441 (Brynaert) - A bill for an act relating to education; establishing state measures of students’ achievement growth; amending Minnesota Statutes 2008, sections 120B.30; 120B.31; 120B.35; 120B.36; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 120B; repealing Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 120B.362.

Rep. Brynaert presented HF1441.

Chair Mariani officially called the hearing to order at 8:38 AM. A quorum was present.

Rep. Brynaert moved that HF1441 be recommended to pass.

Rep. Brynaert moved the H1441DE3 amendment.

Rep. Brynaert incorporated the following technical oral amendments to the H1441DE3 amendment:

Page 5, Line 14, delete "3" and insert "4"
Page 11, Line 5, delete "20" and insert "30"
Page 12, Line 22, after "progress" insert "and other"

Rep. Brynaert renewed her motion that the H1441DE3 amendment, as amended, be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
