MINUTES


Representative Ron Erhardt, Chairman of the Transportation Policy Committee, called the Fifteenth meeting to order at 2:35 PM on Tuesday, March 15, 2005, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

Rep. Anderson moved approval of the minutes: March 9, 2005. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

MnDOT presentation on truck weight affects on pavement and bridges was given by:
Betsy Parker, MnDOT
Greg Hayes, MnDOT
Curt Turgeon, MnDOT, Pavement Engineer
Dan Dorgan, MnDOT, Bridge Engineer

Rep. Nelson assumed the Chair at 3:50.

Rep. Erhardt moved approval of HF945(Erhardt) Highway sign program billing authorized; business signs criteria modified, quiet zones provisions modified, commuter rail corridor coordinating committee sunset removed, and money appropriated and recommended it be laid over for possible inclusion in the Transportation Omnibus bill.

Rep. Erhardt moved adoption of the H0945A1 amendment to HF945. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Erhardt presented HF945 as amended.

Presenting testimony in support of HF945 as amended was:
Erik Rudeen, MnDOT Government Affairs.

Rep. Erhardt renewed his motion to approve HF945 as amended and that it be laid over for possible inclusion in the Transportation Omnibus bill. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Erhardt assumed the Chair at 4:10.

Rep. Severson moved HF1053 Driver's license road test waiver authorized for licensed military personnel and recommended it be placed on the General Register as amended be taken off the table for reconsideration and be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Lieder moved approval of SF735 (Moe) Cass County Highway 6 Bradley Waage Memorial Bridge designated and recommended it be placed on the General Register.

Rep. Moe presented SF735.

Presenting testimony in support of SF735 was:
Bruce Waage, brother of Bradley Waage

Rep. Lieder renewed his motion to approve SF735 (Moe) and that it be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


Rep. Nelson moved approval of HF1452 (Juhnke) Day activity center buses warning equipment operation authorized and recommended that it be laid over for possible inclusion in the Transportation Omnibus bill.

Rep. Juhnke presented HF1452.

John Williams, House Research provided clarification in response to a question from Rep. B. Anderson.

Rep. Nelson renewed his motion to approve HF1452 (Juhnke) and that it be laid over for possible inclusion in the Transportation Omnibus bill. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF931(Anderson, B.) Local ordinances discriminating among motor vehicles with a certain gross vehicle weight prohibited was continued until March 22, 2005.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:25 PM.
