MINUTES


Representative Bob Gunther, Chair of the Jobs & Economic Opportunity Policy & Finance Committee, called the sixth meeting to order at 8:20 a.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2005, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

A quorum was present.


Chair Gunther introduced the presentation by the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency, on the Governor’s Bonding requests.

Testifying on the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency’s bonding requests was:
Tim Marx, Commissioner, MN Housing Finance Agency


Chair Gunther introduced the presentation on A Broadband Strategy for Minnesota.

Testifying on Broadband was:
Gary Fields, Blandin Foundation


Representative Clark moved to approve the Minutes of January 19, 2005. Representative Westerberg moved to correct the Minutes of January 19, 2005, noting the omission of Representative Mahoney’s presentation on The Phalen Corridor. The motion prevailed. Representative Clark restated her motion to approve the Minutes of January 19, 2005, as corrected. The motion prevailed and the Minutes of January 19, 2005, as corrected, were approved.


Chair Gunther introduced the presentation by the Minnesota Historical Society.

Chair Gunther introduced a presentation on the University of Minnesota / Mayo Clinic Bioscience at Rochester, Minnesota

Dr. Eric Wieben, Project Director, Minnesota Partnership for Biotechnology & Medical Genomics, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN


Chair Gunther introduced the presentation by the Department of Employment & Economic Development on the Governor’s 2005 Bioscience bonding request.

Testifying on the bioscience bonding request were:

Gene Goddard, Bioscience Industry Specialist, DEED


The meeting was adjourned at 10:04 am.
