Fabian will not seek re-election

Rep. Dan Fabian (R-Roseau) will not seek re-election to the Minnesota House of Representatives, the five-term member announced on Monday.

Fabian, who represents District 1A, released a statement calling his time in the Legislature “one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences of my life,” but said he has been thinking about this decision for the past few months.

“This has been a very difficult decision, largely because of the tremendous support that so many people express to me on a near daily basis,” Fabian said. “Adding to the difficulty is the fact that I enjoy giving voice to the great folks who sent me to St. Paul. I am eternally grateful for the support I have received, and over the next several months I will continue to work for the people just as I have over the past years.”

First elected in 2010, Fabian has served in a number of roles during his time in the Legislature, including assistant majority leader during the 2017-18 legislative session. He has also served on a variety of environment, agriculture, jobs and education committees and is currently the Republican lead of the House Environment and Natural Resources Finance Division.

Fabian is the 12th member to announce they will not seek re-election to the House in November.
