Several omnibus bills began moving through the House over the last few days, and next Friday’s third deadline – by when committees must act favorably on major appropriation and finance bills – should add even more momentum.

The House Ways and Means Committee has already scheduled meetings each day next week to debate omnibus bills, beginning Monday with the education, jobs and energy bills. Expect some long days as the Legislature approaches its final committee deadline and the beginning of the Easter/Passover break.

As a reminder, legislators must complete their work by May 20. That’s six weeks from Monday.

But before we look ahead, however, let’s look back at what you may have missed this week.
