The House passed a number of mining inspection exemptions for recreational and economic development areas Tuesday.
Sponsored by Rep. Jason Metsa (DFL-Virginia), HF3089 would provide exemptions from fence, barrier and sign requirements for property with a closed or abandoned mine if the property is used for recreational or economic development purposes.
“[It] allows the safety aspects of a mine site to still be met and keep people safe while developing those resources for, essentially, economic development,” Metsa said.
Following the 126-0 vote, the bill now heads to the Senate where Sen. David Tomassoni (DFL-Chisholm) is the sponsor.
