Economic protection trust fund spending restrictions passed by the House

The House passed a bill Monday that would restrict spending, appropriations or transfers from the Douglas J. Johnson Economic Protection Trust Fund.
Sponsored by Rep. Sandy Layman (R-Cohasset), HF3763 was passed 126-0. It now goes to the Senate, where Sen. Justin Eichorn (R-Grand Rapids) is the sponsor.
The bill would add language to statute that says money devoted to the trust fund “shall not be expended, appropriated or transferred” from the fund except for as detailed in state law.
Layman said the bill takes what’s already in statute and puts a punctuation mark at the end of it.
